Abstract

In the context of increasing the urban development the flood extreme events become more dangerous for humans. According with statistics the number of flood extreme events is increasing. This make the high resolution DTM (Digital Terrain Model) and Hazard maps become one necessary tool for urban planning and flood defense. Starting from 2007 DDNI had conducted 2 projects in order to produce DTM and hazard maps on Romanian Danube for flood defense using the highest  technology available (LIDAR for  high precision DTM and SOBEK 1D-2D hydraulic software for Danube and Danube Delta hydrological  modeling) to produce hazard maps. In order to make these products available for all interested users, especially for local administration urban planning, a WEB Map Viewer for hazard and high resolution DTM maps was produced. This viewer make possible to consult the hazard maps for 1000,100, 30 years (5m pixel size) and DTM (1m pixel size) having like base high resolution satellite images or 25k topographic maps. The information available on this high resolution grid maps is depth for hazard maps and elevation on DTM.
